2025 Season Registration Begins Sep. 1

2025 Season is coming up quick with registration opening to all 5-8 year old boys and girls in our area.

League FAQ:

What are the age requirements to participate?

Our flag football league is split into two divisions:

Peewee: Ages 5-6
Rookie: Ages 7-8

The age of the child as of August 1 (Copied age date from KHSAA) will determine the division they'll be placed in.

How much does registration cost?

Registration is $40. For families registering 2 or more players at a time, it's $40 for the first player and $25 for each additional sibling.

When does the season start and how many games will there be?

- Practice begins on September 29 at Archer Park
- First game is Tuesday, October 7
- Last game is Saturday, November 1

Rookie @ 7:30 PM

Gamedays are each Tuesday & Thursday evening beginning October 7 @ PHS's Blackcat Stadium / Josh Francis Field. There will be a total of 9 games played with the last game played Saturday, Nov 1.

How are canceled games handled?

In the case of weather or for any unforeseen circumstances to pop up and prevent us from having games, they will be made up by either playing a future double header or playing on a Saturday morning. Coaches along with the league President will discuss makeup game dates and times and share them with their teams asap.

Where will practices be held?

All practices are to be held at Archer Park by the outdoor basketball court. Times and dates are up to team coaches.

What equipment do I need to purchase for my athlete to compete?

No equipment needs to be purchased to participate. We provide all flags, belts, footballs, and jerseys.

We do recommend each player wear tennis shoes or rubber cleats. (Cleats are not necessary)

Can I request for my player to be on certain teams with their friends or family members?

Yes. We try to be as accommodating as possible, because we want our players to feel comfortable and enjoy football at this entry level before moving on to tackle. However, we want to balance out roster sizes the best we can so that each player has the opportunity to have equal amounts of playing time.

Does my player have to attend Prestonsburg or Allen Elementary to participate?

No. We allow all kids from Floyd and surrounding counties to participate in our flag football league.

How will I know what team my player is on?

After registration has ended, all players will be added to teams and our league president will contact each coach and provide the coach with contact information for each player and then the coach will coordinate with the team parents/guardians from there.

Each coach is required to complete a background check and complete a USA Football Flag Football Certification course before coaching any of our athletes.

Can my player miss games and practices?

No practices or games are mandatory. We understand that life happens and a lot of families can't make it to all scheduled events. I suggest contacting your team coach any time your player can't make it to a practice or game. Communication is key and helps prevent any misunderstandings.

What size football does the league use?

Football size is based on age level and our league will use the peewee size football. These balls are usually sold at Walmart, Amazon, Hibbett Sports, etc.
